Growing Up in the Arts

Annalesa grew up in Aurora, Nebraska with her older brother Benjamin and mom and dad, Chad and Alesa. Dance runs in her family, so at two and a half she started taking ballet and tap. From there, she continued her dance education at her home studio and studied ballet, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, modern, tap.

Once Annalesa reached middle school, her desire to participate in theater and music was fulfilled when opportunities became available. Throughout her middle and high school years, Annalesa filled her days with every artistic group she could. She was a member of the concert band and choir, but was also selected for jazz band and as the dance captain for her high school's show choir. She choreographed and danced at most basketball and football games, played lead roles in musicals, took voice lessons, and all the while continued to improve her dance technique. Annalesa also filled her summers with numerous theatre camps and intensives. This includes Oklahoma City University's Broadway Bound Summer Intensive, Snowy Range Summer Dance Festival, and several years at Allegro Wolfe Broadway Academy.

Annalesa credits her family, teachers, and mentors for creating opportunities, encouraging curiosity, and inspiring confidence. As a developing young adult, she grew a deep appreciation for the arts and is positive that it will continue throughout her life.
